Preparing the Crystals

Welcome to my new adventure!

If you are anything like me, life gets away from you often. Mondays quickly become Fridays and, before we know it, it is Monday all over again. More and more I am realizing that work and sleep run my life and I have not been taking care of my emotional and spiritual wellbeing. It is time to change that!

In the next 45 days, I will be revisiting each of my meditation crystals, on at a time. Over the past 4 years, for every big life change I bought new crystals (most from the Silver Pyramid in Richardson, Texas…if you go, ask for Sheryl). Little by little, my small collection grew to over 40 individual pieces. To be honest, I don’t remember what many of their names are nor what healing properties they provide. This is the cornerstone of my next 45 days leading up to Christmas day!

How it will work:

Each day, for the next 45 days, I will be posting about ONE crystal from my collection. I will research the crystal and explain what spiritual and healing properties it possesses. According to my research, I will set an intention for my day and carry the crystal with me from dawn until dusk. Throughout the day, I will make sure to take occasional short breaks to hold the crystal and both meditate briefly as well as reciting positive affirmations. Each day will end with a 30 minute meditation in a quiet place, with the crystal in hand. Personally, I prefer the Vipassana style of meditation, though each person has their own style; even guided meditations on YouTube work well (check out the channel by Dauchsey).

I believe that over the next 45 days, I will become more mindful, grateful, and tranquil. I have heard it said that it takes about 3 weeks to make or break a habit, so 6 weeks should make for a great life change!

Why 45 days?

A great friend and aspiring spiritual teacher, Erin Simon, is very tuned in to numerology and Angel Numbers. So, when choosing a number of days, I came across the number 45.

“Angel Number 45 is a message from your angels to put your efforts towards the things in your life that embrace and enhance who you truly are, your lifestyle choices and your life in general. Be prepared to make necessary changes that will bring auspicious opportunities to advance you along your path. Trust that these changes will bring ‘better’ into your life in all aspects.” Read more here!

The number is a perfect fit for this project!

Getting started:

It is very important that old energy stored inside the crystals is cleaned and the crystals are recharged. Old energy in crystals can come from people touching them, the environment, or the history of the crystal. Also, crystals are meant to be connected with the earth and universe. Crystals inside the home are bound to lose their natural connection, so they lose also lose their energy over time (just like humans who do not touch the earth and soak in the sun/bask in moonlight).

To make sure that my crystals are recharged and full of healing energy, I woke up early this morning to lay them in the sun at sunrise. The sun is a strong and bright source of spiritual energy, and I want a life force and healing energy for the next 45 days, so I chose to recharge my crystals this way. You can read more about recharging crystals here!

Charging crystals in the sun

Using the sun’s healing energy and life force, I recharged the energy in the crystals.

My next step, after the day in the sun, I needed to clean all the energy in the crystals as well as the space in my apartment. To accomplish this, I purchased a smudge stick of blue sage and ginger. I chose blue sage, because the aroma is a little less intense than the typical white sage. Check out this article to learn all about the different plants you can use to smudge. The ginger in my sage is to attract prosperity, success, and money (something I think we all want).

The process is simple! I broke off some of the sage and placed it in a clay bowl (I like to use all natural materials in this process to avoid contaminating the energy). After setting fire to the sage and letting the flames die off, I began to waft the smoke over the crystals while reciting my intentions. I kept the intentions simple this time and merely repeated, “Clear away all negative energy and bring only positivity to these crystals.”

Now, whether you believe in energy or spirits, or not, any time that you make an exerted effort to speak positively and affirm your desires, you will subconsciously make changes to ensure that your intentions come true. Try it and you may be surprised!

Using blue sage with ginger, I cleaned the energy in my crystals.

Now that my crystals are ready, tomorrow starts the 45 day journey. I don’t know what I will manifest or what changes in my emotional/spiritual life will come about, but I am excited to see where the crystals and meditation take me.

I hope you enjoy the journey, and who knows, maybe you will be inspired to try it yourself! Have a blessed evening and I will check in tomorrow for Day 1!
